Quality Inspector

Siemens Mobility, Rolling Stock Division is the North American market leader in the production of passenger coaches, locomotives, and light rail vehicles. As a Quality Inspector I, you will support a broad range of complex and critical inspection procedures and documentation activities in a dynamic, high-energy production environment in the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless-steel car bodies for rail vehicles.

• Follow general inspection guidelines to conduct critical non-routine visual, dimensional, test and functional inspections on a wide variety of components, assemblies, equipment, systems, supplies and materials.
• Perform complex and critical inspection procedures requiring special set-ups of new or unique equipment and interpretation of test data from a variety of sources.
• May conduct first article inspection of parts and assemblies.
• Make visual inspections and establish quality checks.
• Identification and handling of discrepant material, understanding part flow requirements and supporting associated actions.

• High school education or state recognized GED.
• Requires basic understanding of assembly and production processes.
• Experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in a Quality Assurance role.
• Requires basic understanding of inspection methods and equipment, and the ability to perform complex shop mathematics.
• Ability to interpret and use blueprints, specs, engineering drawings, materials lists and inspection standards.
• Requires a minimum of one-year experience interfacing with quality functions.
• Willingness to travel to Sacramento, California for training, including an initial trip of at least two weeks and additional travel as needed.

• Candidates should be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment when required.
• Job duties may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using hands to handle objects or tools.
• Frequent verbal communication is necessary; occasional tasks may involve detecting odors.
• Ability to lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds is required.
• Specific vision abilities include:
  Close and distance vision, Color differentiation, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, Ability to adjust focus.
