Siemens Mobility is seeking to fill an Overhaul Technician - CNC for our locomotive truck overhaul shop based in Lexington, NC. Technicians will work as part of a small team responsible for the overhaul of locomotive trucks from our TSSSA customers. This position will report to the CS Production Manager. This is a 1st Shift position Monday – Friday 6am – 2:30pm.

Candidates with CNC programming experience and lathe machining experience are highly desired, particularly experience operating, programming, and troubleshooting wheel lathes or similar CNC machining equipment.

What your day-to-day will look like:

• Undertake all aspects of overhaul maintenance of Siemens locomotive wheelsets to meet the requirements of the production plan.
• Removal, inspection, and fitment of components in accordance with Siemens work instructions.
• Re-profiling of train wheelsets when required using a state-of-the-art wheel lathe machine.
• Set up, operate , and make program adjustments to CNC-controlled wheel lathe equipment as required to meet production and quality requirements.
• Perform routine machine inspections, troubleshoot machining issues, and verify dimensional accuracy of completed work using precision measuring equipment.
• Use pressure washer to pre-clean components prior to inspection.
• Safe movement of locomotive wheelsets using overhead cranes and lifting devices.

To thrive in this role, you have:

• High School Diploma / GED.
• 2+ years relevant experience within a predominately mechanical
• 5+ years’ experience with CNC programming, CNC machine setup, and operation of lathe equipment.
• Experience operating manual and/or CNC lathes. Preferred experience with wheel lathes, railroad machining equipment, or heavy industrial machining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, machining specifications, and CNC programs.
• Experience in documenting actions and operations accurately.
• Good knowledge and understanding of tool control, torque wrenches, measuring equipment, and PPE as appropriate.

Physical Demands/Facility Information

• Candidates should be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment when required
• Job duties may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and using hands to handle objects or tools
• Frequent verbal communication is necessary; occasional tasks may involve detecting odors
• Ability to lift and/or move items up to 40 pounds is required
• Specific vision abilities include:

• Ability to adjust focus
