Excavator Operator

JOB PURPOSEPlay a critical role in construction projects by operating and maneuvering heavy machinery and equipment. Your expertise in operating equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and cranes will be essential for tasks such as excavation, material handling, grading, and site preparation. Your precision and adherence to safety protocols will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Position reports to:
Laborer Foreman or SuperintendentCOMPETENCIESOperate heavy machinery and equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders to perform assigned tasks.

Follow project plans, blueprints, and specifications to carry out excavation, grading, and material handling operations.

Safely and skillfully maneuver equipment to load, unload, and transport construction materials.

Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to ensure proper functionality and report any issues to supervisors.

Adhere to safety protocols and operate machinery in a safe and responsible manner, considering surrounding workers and structures.

Continuously update knowledge and skills related to equipment operation and safety practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCELanguage

Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical

Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

Must have valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Motor Vehicle report required.

Physical Demands:

Occasionally must stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and climb and balance. Must be able to talk, hear, taste and smell and use hands to finger, handle and feel. May need to occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. The following are the vision requirements for the job: physical, close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
