Salary: $130,000–$160,000, depending on experience
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of a manufacturing-focused organization in Lexington, South Carolina. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership opportunity for a finance professional with 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally within a manufacturing or marine environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of cost analysis, pricing structures, margin management, and operational finance, with the ability to partner closely with operations to drive profitability and improve financial performance. Strong communication, analytical skills, and the ability to translate financial information into actionable business decisions are essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the full month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, financial statements, and variance analysis.
Oversee accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
Analyze product costs, pricing structures, margins, labor, overhead, and profitability to support business decisions.
Partner closely with operations, production, purchasing, and leadership to identify cost drivers and opportunities for improved margins.
Develop and monitor financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
Evaluate pricing and costing strategies to ensure products and projects achieve targeted profitability.
Provide financial insight into operational performance, cost trends, and business opportunities.
Establish and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting systems.
Support management with financial analysis and recommendations related to production, pricing, and operational efficiency.
Lead, mentor, and develop accounting/finance personnel as appropriate.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable regulations.
8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
Manufacturing or marine industry experience strongly preferred.
Strong experience with cost accounting, cost analysis, pricing, and margin management.
Demonstrated understanding of how operational decisions impact financial performance and profitability.
Proven experience managing the full month-end close and financial reporting process.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with operations and executive leadership.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning.
Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA preferred.
