Position: Administrative Assistant (Contractor’s Board)

Responsibilities

  • You will review and process initial, renewal and examination applications for the SC Board of Pyrotechnic Safety and SC Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board.
  • You will serve as the primary receptionist for these boards and respond to customer inquiries received through walk-ins, e-mails, and other methods providing timely and accurate responses related to licensure and processes, and procedures.
  • You will complete special assignments, including researching issues and assisting with the preparation of materials for board meetings.
  • You will provide administrative support, as requested, for the Contractor's Licensing Board, particularly during renewals and periods of high application volume.
  • You will perform a variety of other administrative assistance functions including processing lists of licensees, monitoring the board websites for changes, assisting with FOIA requests, ensuring compliance with retention schedules, and scanning documents.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow routine and complex instructions.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of office management and general administrative functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with individuals.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures with licensees.
  • Effective interaction with licensees and public in handling inquiries and communicating information accurately.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Considerable skill in the use of office equipment, computers, and Microsoft products.

Other Requirements

  • Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing.
  • May require occasional work outside of normal office hours.
  • May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
