- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business education, mathematics or related area of discipline with previous student teaching experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Valid SC Teaching License (any applicable area)
Must have current government issued identification
8 Hours/190-195 Days

The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.
General SummaryUnder general supervision, instructs students in areas of computer science such as robotics, computer programming, game design & development, web design & development, virtual reality, software development and information technology.
Essential Functions- Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards increased outcomes for students.
- Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
- Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
- Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
- Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
- Teaches STEM concepts and skills from a variety of computer science fields and areas represented in the South Carolina Career and Technology Education career clusters. Areas may include robotics, computer programming, game design & development, web design & development, virtual reality, software development, and information technology.
- Prepares students for appropriate industry certification exams.
- Develops practical problem solving skills related to the materials and processes of the industry.
- Instructs students in the proper use, care and operation of technology and robotics equipment.
- Demonstrates a variety of 21st century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
- Designs and facilitates engaging, high level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate to prepare students for a 21st century global, knowledge-based economy.
- Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, competency forms, discipline reports, etc.
- Organizes classroom and laboratory areas for daily instruction.
- Selects, requests, and maintains an inventory of instructional aides, technology tools, equipment, and supplies needed for daily activities; provides for safe storage and proper use of all materials, equipment and tools.
- Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; analyzes assessment data in relation to student learning and develops instructional strategies to close the learning and performance gap; evaluates contributions in group projects.
- Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
- Develops students' creative and practical problem-solving skills related to relevant materials and processes of the industry.
- Instructs and coaches students in the rudiments of obtaining and retaining a job; stays informed of current entry job requirements; completes job references for students when requested.
- Recruits professionals in the business field to serve on the annual advisory committee; meets semi-annually to solicit input from community partners regarding current issues and employment opportunities.
- Meets with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, activities, etc.; issues reports in accordance with school board policy to inform parents of students' progress.
- Actively serves as a FBLA, Skills
USA or Robotics advisor in preparing students for competition and leadership opportunities and chaperones trips to conferences and events. - Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Supervises students in classroom and lab situations. Responsible for classroom materials and supplies budget (if applicable). Responsible for maintenance and inventory of equipment; responsible for reporting equipment malfunctions.
