• Bachelor’s degree in applicable science or related discipline with previous student teaching experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Under general supervision, instructs students in science content and skills such as conducting laboratory experiments, research, and scientific problem‑solving methods. Assists in other school programs as assigned.

• Supervises students in classroom activities and in other areas as assigned; maintains positive behavior support and classroom management systems.
• Teaches concepts and skills in life science, physical science, general science, earth sciences, biology, chemistry, physics or physiology; motivates students to acquire knowledge of scientific facts, principles and skills.
• Demonstrates a variety of 21st‑century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
• Designs and facilitates engaging, high‑level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate to prepare students for a 21st‑century global, knowledge‑based society.
• Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of both formative and summative assessments; collaborates with other staff members to analyze assessment data in relation to student learning and develops instructional strategies to close the learning and performance gap; evaluates contributions in group projects.
• Collaborates with school and district personnel to evaluate effectiveness of curriculum and make suggestions for improvement.
• Networks with school personnel regarding scheduling issues as appropriate.
• Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, discipline reports, etc.
• Organizes classrooms and other settings for daily instruction.
• Maintains accurate records and files.
• Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency and professional development.
• Meets with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, social and emotional needs, behavior and personal and academic goals and expectations; issues reports in accordance with school board policy to inform parents/guardians of students' progress; suggests interventions as appropriate.
• If applicable, supervises activities of assigned instructional assistants which involve planning, reviewing work and providing instruction, guidance and training.
• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
