REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related discipline with prior student teaching experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Under general supervision, the teacher instructs students in mathematical skills such as geometric proofs, algebraic equations, probability, statistics, trigonometric principles, and related topics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Supports and upholds the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One to increase student outcomes.
- Interacts, communicates, and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
- Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
- Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
- Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities; ensures safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment, and materials.
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive, and productive learning environment for all students; supervises students in classroom activities and other settings as assigned; maintains positive behavior support and classroom management systems.
- Teaches concepts and skills in basic mathematics, remedial mathematics, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus; develops students' understanding of mathematical structure; motivates students to apply mathematical understanding and skills to practical problem solving.
- Demonstrates a variety of 21st‑century teaching skills to foster independent, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers.
- Designs and facilitates engaging, high‑level, sophisticated learning experiences and applications appropriate for preparing students for a 21st‑century, knowledge‑based society.
- Demonstrates and evaluates the effectiveness of formative and summative assessments; collaborates with staff to analyze assessment data; develops instructional strategies to close learning and performance gaps; evaluates contributions in group projects.
- Collaborates with school and district personnel to evaluate curriculum effectiveness and make improvement suggestions.
- Networks with school personnel regarding scheduling issues as appropriate.
- Prepares various records and forms such as lesson plans, daily and weekly activity plans, assessments, material requisitions, discipline reports, and others.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Organizes classrooms and other settings for daily instruction.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
- Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for managing student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
- Meets with parents, administrators, and school counselors to discuss student performance, social and emotional needs, behavior, and personal and academic goals; issues reports in accordance with school board policy; suggests interventions as appropriate.
- When applicable, supervises activities of assigned instructional assistants, including planning and reviewing work and providing instruction, guidance, and training.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Responsible for supervising students in classrooms, field studies, and other instructional settings; responsible for maintaining and inventorying equipment and reporting equipment malfunctions and safety issues.
OTHERSKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and policies; reliable transportation required.
