- Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience in sports administration or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge and skills required for the job.

General SummaryUnder general supervision, the District Athletic Director provides administrative leadership in planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of interscholastic athletic programs for the middle and high schools. The District Athletic Director promotes extracurricular athletic activities that foster skill development, understanding of sports, and appreciation for a variety of athletic activities and programs, teaming, and sportsmanship for students and adults.
Essential Functions- Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards increased outcomes for students.
- Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
- Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
- Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
- Demonstrates appropriate use, care and safe operation of materials and equipment.
- Meets with parents, administrators and school counselors as needed to discuss student performance, activities, etc.
- Organizes and administers the overall district program of extra-curricular athletics.
- Prepares reports as required by school administration, the superintendent's designee and School Board.
- Develops and maintains a district athletic calendar.
- Develops, reviews, and revises the district athletic handbook (middle and high) and any athletic agreements that each athlete, parent, and coach must abide by, with recommendations from administration and coaches, and subject to school district approval
- Assists schools in developing annual athletic budgets.
- Coordinates with schools to ensure adequate maintenance and construction of athletic facilities.
- Meets regularly with school athletic directors to discuss challenges, successes, and needs of school athletic programs.
- Works with principals and local school staff to coordinate hiring of school athletic directors.
- Works with principals and local school staff to assist in evaluating athletic directors and providing feedback to other coaches
- Works with school administration, community organizations, and state athletic directors to improve and promote the district athletic program.
- Coordinates the use of district athletic facilities and fields to meet the needs of middle schools, high schools, and community.
- Supervises on-site athletic activities and performs athletic-related administrative duties during the months of June, July and August as needed.
- Serves on district and community committees relating to athletics and recreation as requested.
- Administers the district insurance program covering school athletes and works with the school athletic directors for all processing of reports and claims.
- Utilizes interpersonal relations to deal effectively with administrators, teachers, community members, and students.
- Operates general office and technology equipment and tools.
- Effectively uses personal computing devices and software applications for the management of student records, instructional efficiency, and professional development.
- Participates in district and professional meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops.
- Provides support for fundraising efforts of each school's athletic department.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Responsible for the district's athletic budget. Along with the principal, supervises school athletic directors.
OtherSkills and Abilities
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Lexington County School District One Board policies. Must be able to access reliable transportation.
Personal computer experience required. Strong knowledge of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, electronic file management, the internet, and reporting and presentation software.
