Position Title:
Director, Assessment and Accountability

Department:
Instructional Services

Reports To:
Chief Academic Officer

FLSA Status:
Exempt

Ideal Start Date - 1/4/27, No Later Than 7/1/27

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree or higher in educational leadership, curriculum, educational measurement, statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a role requiring knowledge of educational measurement and accountability in K-12 education.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate in Statistics, Educational Psychology, Education Research, Educational Measurement, or related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet data analysis (Excel/Google Sheets).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with state and federal educational accountability laws and regulations.
  • Management, director or coordinator experience.
  • Proficiency with statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS).
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Structure Query Language (SQL).
  • Knowledge about how large-scale standardized tests are constructed and scaled.
  • Experience presenting to key stakeholders, including school and district leadership, educators, Board members, and/or community groups.

GENERAL

SUMMARY:

Provides leadership in assessing performance and in collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and distributing data needed for accountability, program planning, and budget development in all aspects of assessment programs and program evaluation. Responsibilities include recommending and/or designing assessment instruments and strategies; overseeing test administration and data collection; planning data storage and retrieval procedures for test and accountability data; preparing reports; training district administrators;

scoring, archiving, analyzing, reporting, and interpreting test data and accountability data. Designs and oversees evaluation of the district strategic plan and provides leadership and/or technical assistance for evaluation of instructional programs. Provides leadership in staff development related to educational measurement and data interpretation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supports and upholds the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards improving student outcomes.
  • Effectively interacts, communicates, and collaboratively with all stakeholders.
  • Establishes a safe, supportive, positive, and productive working and learning environment.
  • Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
  • Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment, and materials.

Assessment/Accountability:

  • Develops and/or recommends instruments to be used in testing and evaluation programs throughout the district.
  • Serves as liaison between the district and the South Carolina State Department of Education (SDE) to coordinate activities related to the testing programs and accountability.
