Job Responsibilities
Advises student and parents regarding financial assistance programs. Disseminates accurate and timely information to include application procedures, eligibility requirements and Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. Reviews and evaluates financial aid applicant files to determine eligibility based on federal, state and institutional law, regulations and/or guidelines. Reviews and evaluates documentation on student files selected for the verification process and resolve discrepancies. Process electronic and manual loan certifications of Direct, PLUS, and alterative loans.
Awards and adjusts awards in accordance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines; adjusts cost of attendance budgets in accordance with institutional guidelines; reviews, evaluates and makes decisions related to student submission of "Special Circumstances" in accordance with federal, state and institutional guidelines. Authorizes payment of financial assistance and appropriate adjustments to student records. Assists with the planning and implementation of policies, procedures and processes of the Student Financial Services Office.
Plans, develops and participates in financial planning workshops for students, parents and community agencies (with Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield counties). Performs all other duties as assigned. This position will be located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus
Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of relevant program experience in student service programs/financial advising.
