Job Purpose
Provides professional support services that contribute to the orderly and efficient operation of the judicial process within the Lexington County Courthouse. Assists judges, jurors, court personnel, attorneys, and the public by maintaining courtroom protocol, preserving the integrity of jury proceedings, and ensuring court proceedings operate in an organized and professional manner.
This is a part-time position that is typically scheduled to work approximately 30 hours per week, with hours determined by court schedules and operational needs.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Assists the public with information needed to navigate the various processes and departments in the Lexington County Courthouse.
- Notifies deputies for any situation that could turn hostile while on floor duty.
- Assures needs of presiding Judge are met; assists in communication with jury or other court officials; properly announces the Judge at beginning of court procedures.
- Escorts visiting Judges to and from assigned parking area to proper chambers, which include insuring and collecting keys and prox cards.
- Escorts the Judge to safe location in the event of a disturbance.
- Serves the needs of the jury, and provides initial information regarding courtroom and jury procedures.
- Protects the integrity of the jury by isolating them from any outside influences.
- Ensures the jury feels comfortable and assists in any personal needs during their service.
- Escorts the jury to and from the courtroom, and to external facilities as required.
- Maintains visual contact with the jury room at all times when the jury is in the room to ensure no one enters or exits without proper authority.
- Maintains order in courtroom to assure minimum interruptions.
- Assists in orderly seating of the jury pool for selection.
- Communicates supreme court rules for proper attire and restrictions on use of cell phones and electronic devices to the jury pool.
- Performs other similar duties as required.

- Time management.
- High School diploma or equivalent, with no experience required.
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
Physical Requirements
- Persons in this position may expect to work approximately thirty (30) hours per week.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
- Positions in this class typically require fingering, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
