Position Summary

Pine Acres Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing / Staff Development Coordinator (ADON/SDC) to support the Director of Nursing in overseeing clinical operations while leading staff education, training, competency, and professional development.

This is a key nursing leadership position responsible for helping ensure high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, appropriate clinical practices, and a well-trained and supported nursing team.

The ADON/SDC will work closely with the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and interdisciplinary team to provide clinical leadership while developing and implementing education and training programs that strengthen staff competency and promote a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Nursing Operations

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services.

  • Help ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and person-centered care.

  • Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff.

  • Monitor nursing practices and support compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations and policies.

  • Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Support infection prevention and control initiatives.

  • Assist with staffing and scheduling to maintain appropriate clinical coverage.

  • Support the investigation and resolution of clinical concerns, incidents, and resident issues.

  • Monitor nursing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

  • Promote effective communication among nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

  • Assist with monitoring clinical outcomes and implementing strategies for continuous improvement.

  • Serve as a clinical resource for nurses and nursing assistants.

Staff Development & Education

  • Develop and implement comprehensive orientation, onboarding, in-service education, and ongoing staff development programs.

  • Conduct new-hire orientation and ensure employees receive the training and support needed to succeed.

  • Assess the educational and training needs of nursing staff and develop programs to address identified needs.

  • Provide education related to clinical practices, regulatory requirements, facility policies, infection prevention, and quality initiatives.

  • Monitor employee competency and identify opportunities for additional training, coaching, and development.

  • Maintain accurate records of employee education, competencies, certifications, and required training.

  • Monitor nursing licenses, certifications, and renewals to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Coordinate and participate in quality and process improvement initiatives.

  • Work with the Administrator and Director of Nursing to identify educational priorities and departmental needs.

  • Support ongoing employee engagement, retention, and professional development initiatives.

  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, respect, and continuous learning.
