Automotive Technician
Help Wanted (or help wanted with help wanted ad, whichever you prefer)
We are looking to expand our shop workforce. I know that many people are in a similar position, but I figured I would at least try to post on here to see if anyone was interested. If nothing else, at least you all can critique the ad and let me know how I might improve it. I have advertisements up on INDEED and Zip Recruiter.
Does anyone have any additional places that they have had success posting help wanted ads on? Thank you all for your time and consideration.
HELP WANTED
… in Lexington, SC is looking to expand by adding another A or B level Technician with at least 10 years of experience working professionally as an Automotive Technician. Pay is based on experience, expertise and proficiency. We hope that this will be a long term career for the Technician who is a good fit for the position.
A top-level, experienced, A level Technician with ASE certifications A1-A8 and L1 current, able to produce on average 40 billable hours/week, and able to work independently to solve and repair complex issues, will receive 45 dollars per hour, flat rate. A proficient Technician with a wide knowledge base and mechanical ability could easily obtain 30-50 flat rate hours per week, based on the volume of work that typically comes through the shop.
We are also willing to negotiate salary, rather than flat rate, payment options, but a top level Technician would still be expected to produce at least 40 hours/week on average of billable hours throughout the year (i.e., at least 100% efficiency, on average, while at work). Of course this expectation of billable hours is completely dependent upon our shop:
1) providing enough volume of work for the Technician, and
2) our team of service writers being efficient enough to write this amount of work with ease for the Technician. Expectations on minimum billable hours for salaried workers of lesser expertise or experience would be less accordingly. A top level Technician, as described in the second paragraph above, could be expected to start at 93,600/year+all flat rate hours achieved above 40 hours/week at 45 dollars per hour.
We work from 8:00 AM-5:00 PM on Monday-Friday and each employee gets a full hour for lunch each day, from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. We are closed on weekends and many holidays throughout the year.
We offer a nice paid time off package. We close during the week from Christmas to New Year’s, so that the employees can spend time with their family. This is one week of paid time off. We typically are closed for about 7-10 more days during the year outside of the area around Christmas, during which the employee is paid. Additionally, after six months on the job, the employee is given an additional 15 days of PTO per year to use at their discretion.
In total, between Holidays and elective time off, the employee gets roughly one month of paid time off per year (~30 days).
It is sincerely hoped that the Technician will regularly schedule time off in advance during the year as a means to replenish his/her own psyche and keep the positive attitude of the shop rolling throughout the year. Holiday stipends (additional pay for vacation expenses) will be offered to employees based on meeting performance goals during the course of the year.
The Technician is expected to have a valid driver’s license and no DUIs or other major traffic infringements on their record.
ASE certifications are a plus and, along with experience in the field, can earn a higher pay rate. If the Technician does not have ASE certifications, test-prep material is available through the shop (all Motor Age and Delmar manuals) and we will pay for tests that the Technician takes, as long as they pass the test. Pay raises are possible through obtaining ASE certification and by attending training courses.
We are a full service/repair shop. The Technician is expected to be able to diagnose, repair, and verify completion of repair on practically ALL makes and models, cars and light trucks, for ANY electrical or mechanical repair (granted, some exceptions will be found). This includes, but is not limited to: brakes, exhaust, suspension and…
