Applicants must be willing to undergo a background check. Candidates must possess a Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with "S" School Bus and "P" Passenger Endorsements. Previous experience working as a bus driver for a school district is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities- Ensure the safety of students and staff in all school activities.
- Safely drive a school bus on days when school is in session over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, loading and unloading students at designated locations.
- Transport students, teachers and others on school field or activity trips.
- Inspect the assigned bus on a daily basis prior to transporting passengers to ensure that the bus is in good, clean and safe working order.
- Cleans and refuels the bus as needed.
- Ensure that the communication device is in proper working order before each trip.
- Report all mechanical deficiencies, traffic violations, or accidents promptly.
- Arrange for and ensure completion of routine maintenance of the bus (e.g., oil change), transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
- Maintain order and discipline in an effective and courteous manner among students being transported in accordance with WPA policies and procedures; report incidents involving student discipline.
- Observe and track route timing, such as total en‑route, time between stops, loading and unloading times or any other requested information for the purpose of establishing route efficiency, as requested.
- Follow procedures to ensure no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision at any time, and that all children have departed the bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips).
- Inventory bus emergency and first‑aid supplies and equipment; report needs to the Director.
- In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuate children according to written and practiced procedures, ensure that medical emergency procedures are followed, complete a written report as required, attend and participate in trainings and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities. Travel to and from school district buildings, vehicle service stations, field trip locations and other destinations is required.
- Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
- Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with "S" School Bus and "P" Passenger Endorsements.
- School Bus Driver Certification, CPR/First Aid Certification.
