Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Job Summary
Loads and unloads material within a warehouse or storage facility. Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, conveyors, or other handling equipment to move material to and from aircraft, trucks or trains and within the storage facility. Requires a high school diploma with 0‑3 years of experience in the field or related area. Relies on instructions and pre‑established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions typically do not require exercising independent judgment. Reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Plan, order, deliver, and organize materials to support departments.
- Coordinate with supervisors to improve material flow, organization, and accuracy.
- Ensure replenishment levels for Kan Ban items are properly set and maintained.
- Operate power lift trucks safely, moving a variety of materials and products throughout the plant.
- Box, band, or secure loads for movement.
- Verify manufactured components are properly reported before moving to another department.
- Perform daily checks of lift truck to ensure all systems are functional and safety devices are in place.
- Maintain good housekeeping in the work area.
- Observe good safety practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or team leader.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 0–3 years of experience in material handling or related field.
- Extensive product knowledge including full understanding of bills of materials.
- History of working safely and successfully in a team environment.
- Ability to plan and work without direct supervision.
