Job DutiesVMI is accepting applications for a part-time Visitor Services Assistant for the VMI Museum System.
- Work in the VMI Museum and Jackson House Museum stores as a clerk greeting visitors, selling merchandise and tour tickets.
- Restock merchandise as needed.
- Assist in routine museum operations, including opening/closing, end of day cash reports, and answering the telephone.
- Provide basic orientation for visitors.
- Other duties as directed by the Assistant Museum Store Manager.
- Neat, businesslike appearance.
- Alertness, sensitivity to the needs and interests of museum visitors and store customers.
- Promptness, reliability, maturity, and sound judgment.
- Ability to follow routine procedures and to enforce policies.
- Basic knowledge of computer and POS.
- Basic knowledge of handling and counting money.
- Retail sales, customer service, and/or museum experience is a plus but not required.
