Job Duties
The Biology Department at the Virginia Military Institute invites applications for a non-tenure track, adjunct position. Military experience is not required. This is a part-time position with an expectation of teaching primarily Core Curriculum introductory biology courses in-person. Our longer-term adjunct instructors may teach an upper-level course in their specialty. Class sizes are usually 16-24 cadets. Teaching load is up to two courses with laboratories per semester, with the possibility of additional classes in the summer.
The current salary rate for one laboratory course is $9,832. The successful candidate will serve under a renewable contract. Full-time faculty at VMI wear uniforms and adhere to military customs, but adjunct instructors are not required to do so. Located in the southern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, VMI is a small, highly rated state-supported four-year undergraduate military college with a strong emphasis on teaching and undergraduate research.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum requirements are a master's degree or at least 18 graduate hours in the biological sciences or related field. Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
