Job Summary

The Department of Marketing and Supply Chain at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY is pleased to invite applications for a tenure‑eligible, Regular Title Series, position at the Assistant Professor level. This is a 9‑month position with a preferred start date of August 1, 2027. The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. (or DBA) in marketing or a related field from an AACSB‑accredited institution, or be expected to earn one by the appointment start date.

ABD candidates near completion will be considered, provided the degree is completed within one year of appointment. Candidates should have an active research program in marketing strategy, with the goal of publishing in premier marketing journals (e.g., Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Marketing Science), and have an excellent record in the classroom.

Preference will be given to candidates with an active research pipeline in marketing strategy topics such as firm‑level marketing decisions, go‑to‑market strategy, sales‑force strategy, and customer relationship management. While this position has most of its time focused on research, it also has teaching and service responsibilities. For teaching, ideal candidates will be able to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in sales‑related classes (e.g., Personal Selling, Sales Management) and/or Digital Marketing, with flexibility to teach other marketing courses based on departmental need.

Prior teaching experience in personal selling, sales management, or related courses with strong teaching evaluations, as well as relevant industry or professional sales experience, is preferred. The anticipated initial DOE will be 30% teaching, 60% research, and 10% service. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to mentor and advise students and to provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.

Teaching

Responsibilities

30% of the faculty’s duties will be devoted to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to sales and digital marketing, with the flexibility to cover additional marketing courses as needed.

Research Responsibilities

60% of the faculty’s duties will be devoted to advancing an active research agenda in marketing strategy, with the expectation of publishing in leading marketing journals.

Service Responsibilities

10% of the faculty’s duties will involve mentoring and advising students, and providing service to the department, college, university, and professional community.

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. (or DBA) in marketing or related field from an AACSB‑accredited institution; expected to have the degree by the start date or be ABD near completion.
  • Excellent teaching record in classroom settings, as demonstrated by evaluations.
  • Active research program in marketing strategy, with a record of or potential for publication in premier marketing journals.
  • Experience teaching Personal Selling, Sales Management, or Digital Marketing courses.
  • Preferred: research pipeline in firm‑level marketing decisions, go‑to‑market strategy, sales‑force strategy, and customer relationship management.
  • No supervisory responsibilities required.
