The History Department of Washington and Lee University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Medieval European History (ca. 500 to 1500). Special consideration will be given to candidates whose scholarship and teaching engages with legal history, and who specialize in geographical areas other than Britain and France.
Responsibilities- Teach introductory surveys in medieval European history and the Renaissance.
- Teach intermediate and advanced undergraduate courses related to the applicant’s areas of specialization.
- Contribute to the university’s interdisciplinary Medieval and Renaissance Studies program and the Law, Justice, and Society program.
- Promote a welcoming campus community that recognizes the value of all persons and encourages engaged citizenship through open dialogue.
Expected salary: $88,000 – $96,000. Offers are based on relevant education, experience, tenure status, internal equity, and market and organizational considerations.
