Responsibilities

The Trades Manager is responsible for managing ITAC’s direct field, and at times, managing labor resources including journeymen, apprentices, and helpers. A Trades Manager’s key responsibility is to identify, contact, vet and, along with ITAC's Employee Services group, to offer employment. The Trades Manager also works closely with management to identify prospective foremen, general foremen, and other field and management supervision.

Specific Trades Manager responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

Monitor/Staff Recruiting Craft Demands
  • Monitor, screen, and recommend potential team members for both management and/or field craft positions for self‑perform operating units.
  • Work closely with company’s ES to coordinate appropriate consent forms for background screening and onboarding process.
  • Input/share database reports with all operating units throughout the company.
  • Attend weekly meetings and continuous communication with construction project managers and supervisors to understand upcoming project and craft demands; facilitate “LIVE” data base maintaining current employees, project assignments, employee availability dates, vacation schedules and miscellaneous time off.
  • Weekly review with management team of forecast projects and needs for specific trade skills and experiences during specific time frames
Opportunity Tracking
  • Filter Sales Force reports to project short‑to‑midterm bid opportunities.
  • Track Pending bids and calculate win loss ratios by bid volume and quantity
Training Coordination
  • Keep database of employee training and retraining dates including IS Net World, MSHA, OSHA, Procore, software etc.
  • Assist with selecting and setting up Craft Training.
Craft Hiring and Management
  • Identify, contact, vet, and submit needed information to ITAC’s Employee Services group to initiate an employment offer
  • Vetting to include preliminary background review, craft skills, ability to commute to/from work
  • Train new employees in ITAC administrative subjects such as timesheets, STAs, attendance logs, work hours, breaks, tools, PPE, QA/QC requirements, etc.
  • Develop and apply craft skill testing program for new hires
  • Serve as interface between direct craft labor, supervision, and management
  • Enforce all ITAC policies and project specific procedures
  • Document policy and procedure infractions; review with Division Manager and Employee Services
  • As requested, serve as a member of project execution plan development team; typically provide input on manpower loading, craft skill requirements
  • Assist with ITAC apprenticeship program
Craft Termination
  • Assist with disciplinary actions and/or termination of labor – either layoff due to lack of work, or fire due to policy or procedure violation
  • Document reason for all terminations; all decisions to fire must be documented and reviewed with Division Manager and Employee Services
  • Recover all tools and PPE (especially harnesses) prior to termination
  • Define with Employee Services if terminated employees are eligible for rehire
