Role Summary
The Packaging Line Operator (PLO) completes various tasks vital to the distribution packaging function. The position is entry‑level and physically fast‑paced, requiring a technologically astute, easily adaptable, and flexible individual. The PLO is responsible for operating can‑filling machinery, keg‑filling machinery, packaging machinery, and other general packaging tasks. The PLO works as a valuable team member, focusing on maintaining consistency and timeliness within the distribution packaging function while upholding the high quality that Devils Backbone is known for.
Job Responsibilities- Works closely with the Packaging Supervisor, Warehouse Manager, and other team members to ensure smooth operation of packaging machinery and equipment.
- Operate high‑speed packaging equipment – kegging and canning.
- Perform daily start‑up and clean‑up procedures on all assigned packaging stations.
- Uphold a food‑safe environment through quality and sanitation.
- Work with maintenance employees/personnel to assist with equipment problems and troubleshooting.
- Perform daily basic maintenance for machinery.
- Assist in production records management.
- Work to achieve packaging/distribution short and long‑term goals and metrics.
- Adhere to all safety precautions, rules, and guidelines.
- Routinely use a computer to access email and other company communication platforms, SDS safety sheets, SOPs, and other job or company related information.
- Possibly stack and palletize finished product and prepare for cold‑room storage.
- Possibly use a computer to review SDS safety sheets/protocols and interpret the protocols into actions.
- Involve frequent walking, lifting, and carrying objects weighing 32lb routinely throughout a shift.
- May need to maneuver 200lb kegs from filler to pallet.
- Use hand/eye coordination and manipulate cardboard boxes, packing tape, machinery, etc.
- Ability to multi‑task effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Must be 21years of age.
- Production/manufacturing/mechanical experience strongly preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience in food and/or beverage industry preferred.
- Knowledge and passion for craft beer.
- Ability to work autonomously and within a teamwork environment.
- General knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions.
- Ability to interpret technical bulletins and schematics on equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to distinguish color for safety signs.
