The AI Storyteller and Communications Specialist is an embedded communications professional within the University’s Office of Strategic Communications. Reporting to the Senior Director for Strategic Communication, the Specialist is responsible for developing and executing narrative strategies that highlight the research, educational programs, and daily activities of faculty, students, and staff throughout the entire university. The immediate catalyst for this role is the Georgetown Initiative on AI Use Principles, launching in fall 2026.
This role acts as the primary translator of advanced computational, technical, and ethical concepts for a general audience. They produce compelling written, digital, and social content that elevates the university’s visibility among federal policymakers, national media, prospective students, and the broader scientific community.
- Translate complex scientific and technical research into accessible articles, profiles, and media content for a general audience.
- Communicate a unified narrative about diverse research, teaching, and service activities of Georgetown in the AI space.
- Manage the university’s digital AI presence, including website updates, social media campaigns, and monthly newsletters.
- Work alongside the university’s media relations team to pitch research and practice developments to national journalists and prepare faculty for public and policy briefings.
- Develop and implement communications strategies for major conferences, speaker series, and promotional events.
- Collaborate with faculty and students to identify and highlight compelling, human‑centric stories about AI initiatives.
- Ensure all communications materials are accurate, stylistically consistent, and aligned with the university’s brand guidelines.
- Promote the ethical use of generative AI tools within the Office of Strategic Communications through training and workflow integration.
The AI Storyteller and Communications Specialist operates within the Office of Strategic Communications, serving as a vital bridge between complex technical research activities and a broader, non‑technical audience. This position reports directly to the Senior Director for Strategic Communication, working in close concert with University Media Relations, university faculty, and student researchers to amplify the impact of institutional initiatives. By translating dense, technical advancements into accessible, compelling narratives, the Specialist directly supports Georgetown University’s mission to foster innovation and public understanding.
The role actively influences university communication strategy, ensuring alignment with university-wide brand standards while collaborating across teams to highlight human‑centric stories and academic achievements.
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Science Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience :
