Youth & Young Adult Assistant

The Youth & Young Adult Assistant Coordinator supports the Youth, Young Adult, & Confirmation Coordinator in creating opportunities for young people to encounter Christ, grow in their Catholic faith, develop leadership skills, and become active participants in the life of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish.

This position assists with the planning and implementation of youth and young adult ministry activities, builds relationships with youth and families, supports volunteers, and helps foster a welcoming environment where young people can grow in faith and discipleship.

• Sunday:
  Youth Ministry: 8th–12th grades
• Tuesday or Friday:
  Young Adult Ministry, based on the ministry calendar and current participation
• Monthly:
  Youth Mass and/or special ministry events
• Occasional:
  Retreats, service projects, fundraisers, and outreach

• Work collaboratively with the Youth, Young Adult, & Confirmation Coordinator to develop and implement engaging youth and young adult ministry activities.
• Assist in leading youth ministry gatherings, retreats, service opportunities, and other ministry events under the direction of the Youth, Young Adult, & Confirmation Coordinator.
• Assist with the Young Adult Ministry based on the current needs and schedule of the ministry.
• Participate in the monthly Youth Mass and other parish-wide liturgical or ministry events involving youth and young adults.
• Assist with Youth Ministry sessions for middle and high school students.
• Lead small-group discussions and activities.
• Support youth ministry events, retreats, and service projects.
• Build positive and supportive relationships with youth.
• Assist with games, lessons, prayer, and faith-based activities.

• Assist with the development of the Youth & Young Adult Parish Pastoral Council
• Assist in recruiting, mentoring, forming, and supporting high school youth leaders.
• Encourage youth to take ownership of ministry activities, service opportunities, and participation in parish life.

• Assist with creating and maintaining youth and young adult ministry content for social media.
• Assist with Flock notes communications and other approved parish communication platforms.
• Help prepare announcements, promotional materials, and ministry updates.

• Assist with planning and coordinating service opportunities for youth and young adults.
• Assist with youth ministry fundraising activities and other approved fundraising efforts.

• Collaborate with the Formation Team, clergy, parish staff, volunteers, and families to support a thriving youth and young adult ministry.
• Attend and actively participate in weekly meetings with the Youth, Young Adult, & Confirmation Coordinator.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding youth, young adults, families, volunteers, and parish matters.
• Follow all policies and procedures of the Diocese of Lexington and Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish.
• Complete and maintain all required diocesan Safe Environment training and background-check requirements.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries when working with youth and young adults.
• Perform other ministry-related duties as assigned by the Youth, Young Adult, & Confirmation Coordinator or appropriate parish leadership.
• Assist with responding to questions and concerns from youth and families and refer matters to the Youth, Young Adult, & Confirmation Coordinator when appropriate.

• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church, actively participating in the life of the Church and regularly receiving the Sacraments.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the teachings, traditions, and mission of the Catholic Church.
• Experience working with youth, young adults, education, ministry, or faith-based programming preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of youth and young adult culture and issues, with the ability to build authentic relationships with young people, families, volunteers, and parish staff.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Completion of all required diocesan Safe Environment training and background check prior to working with minors.
• Ability to comply with all Diocese of Lexington and Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish policies and procedures.
