As a registered nurse (RN) at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital (CRBH) in Lexington, VA, you will consistently deliver the best in care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness and empathy with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers. As part of the health‑care team, RNs accept primary accountability for nursing coordination and individualized care for patients of all ages. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimum outcomes.

Age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments are completed, documented, and used to develop a plan of care. Collaborates with the health‑care team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an interdisciplinary plan of care, revising the plan as patient status changes. Treatments and medications for patients are accurately administered and documented using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Patient/family (caregiver) educational needs are identified, incorporated into the plan of care, and documented appropriately.

The RN contributes to performance‑improvement activities, serves as a patient advocate, protects patient rights, and provides psychological, social, and cultural support. The RN applies knowledge of growth and development, performs within clinical, leadership, and educational pathways, exhibits expertise in rapidly changing circumstances, plans strategies to reduce length of stay and resource consumption, serves as a role model, manages resources, establishes priorities, and completes predetermined projects on time.

The RN uses problem‑solving methods to facilitate resolution of patient and personnel situations, participates in orientation of new employees, provides staff feedback, and engages in unit, hospital, and system activities and education within the department.

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or an approved nursing program eligible to sit for the Virginia RN licensure examination.

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. AHA BLS‑HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.

Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
