Job SummaryDirects and supervises the operations in the assigned area with authority and accountability on for assigned shifts. Assures that nursing care is delivered according to standards and policy and assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the nursing administrator. Functions as first-call resource in-house and consults with administrator on call as indicated.

Required:
Three (3) years of RN experience, at least one (1) of which in a leadership role
Certifications, Licenses or Registration
Required:
Valid RN license
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Subject to unit or facility requirements, incumbents may be expected to obtain a BSN within a reasonable period of time post-hire.

Responsibilities- Implements and monitors implementation of established objectives, policies, and procedures concerning patients, visitors, staff, and/or physicians and participates in performance improvement activities.
- Collaborates with nursing management to appropriately allocate staff according to census, acuity/needs, and budget and maintains accurate staffing and attendance records.
- Directs subordinates during shift regarding their responsibilities, holds them accountable for the completion of work and patient care, and participates in performance appraisals and progressive discipline matters as indicated.
- Provides direction and clinical expertise to staff members and disseminates important updates from nursing/administration council meetings and hospital administration.
- Coordinates the efforts of all departments, including such functions as escort, lab, dietary, etc.
- Collaborates with appropriate health‑care team members in the follow‑up of incident reports and resolution of problems involving patients, family members, and/or physicians and communicates actions to nursing administrator and/or administrator on call.
- Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.

Requires occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, occasional work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, occasional sitting, occasional standing, occasional twisting, and occasional walking.
