As a registered nurse, you are expected to consistently deliver the best care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the health care team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. You will utilize delegation and critical-thinking skills to provide quality service through a team-oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.

Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimum outcomes, completing age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, collaborating with the health care team to develop and implement an interdisciplinary plan of care, revising plans according to changes in patient status, accurately administering treatments and medications, identifying and meeting patient/family educational needs, contributing to performance improvement activities, advocating for patients, and applying knowledge of growth and development.

You will also plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption, and improve patient outcomes; serve as a role model for clinical practice; manage resources and set priorities; complete predetermined projects within specified time frames; use problem-solving methods to facilitate resolution of patient and personnel situations; orient new employees; provide feedback using appropriate communication; participate in unit, hospital, and system activities;

and assist with educational activities for the unit/department.

Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing from an accredited college or graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.

Life Support:

• AHA BLS-HCP required.
• May be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.

Other:

• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).

Compensation Range: $33.52 - $50.28. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
