COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Pay: $25 - $28 per hour, based on experience.
Schedule:
2ND SHIFT – Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM; morning coverage every 6th Saturday from 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM. Shift differential: $2 for second shift.
Tool allowance: $600.00. Annual boot voucher: $275.

JOB SUMMARYProvide safe, reliable, and cost‑efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, diagnosing and repairing as required to reduce vehicle downtime and improve fleet reliability.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet lifecycle.
- Conduct FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light‑duty vehicles, and other company‑owned equipment in accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
- Execute quality preventive maintenance inspections per company methods on all fleet vehicles.
- Perform maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles.
- Address all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write‑ups timely and efficiently.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions according to manufacturer specifications, including engines, transmissions, clutches, drive‑line, differential, steering, suspension, fuel, ignition, exhaust (including regeneration systems), intake, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift‑gate hydraulic/electrical systems.
- Document all work performed on work orders following procedures.
- Learn and develop efficiency in Sysco computer programs.
- Proficiency in electric meter testing.
- Knowledge of DC low‑voltage controls and electric motor knowledge (DC).
- Complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed.
- Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2-year school and 1 year of experience or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- Annual Inspector Certification.
- Brake Inspector Certification.
- ASE certifications in Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks (preferred).
- 609 HVAC Certification.
- Working knowledge of computer‑based diagnostic software for OEMs and component manufacturers.
- Must provide own tools; diagnostic equipment and major tools supplied by Sysco.
- Expert knowledge of all vehicle systems and components.
- Moderate skill in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems on all equipment.
- Moderate skill in preventive maintenance inspections and repair.
- Basic welding and cutting skills (gas, electric, MIG, TIG).
- Basic computer skills and knowledge.
- Moderate knowledge of DOT (FMCSA) regulations.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Excellent hand and finger dexterity for wrenches, hand tools, and shop equipment.
- Vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Ability to operate equipment, stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, push/pull, lift/carry, grasp tools, and perform repetitive motions with tools.
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
- Frequently sit and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, or crawling.
- Occasionally sit and frequently lift or move up to 100 lbs.
- Occasional exposure to wet, hot, extreme cold, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and confined spaces.
- Work during non‑traditional hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call.
- Possible travel to other operating companies or corporate office as business needs dictate.
- Possible exposure to high or precarious places, confined spaces, fumes, airborne particles, moderate noise, and frequent outdoor work.
