The Electrician A is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading electrical systems and equipment throughout the facility. This position supports safe and efficient plant operations by ensuring that all electrical equipment is functioning properly and meets applicable safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of electrical repair, maintenance, and construction work using schematics, drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Install, maintain, and repair plant electrical equipment, including:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using testing and measuring instruments.
- Install conduit, wire, electrical components, and related equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Assist in training Electrician B employees
- Perform electrical modifications and support new equipment installations.
- Assist with mechanical repairs when necessary to restore production equipment operation.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance activities on electrical systems.
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, OSHA regulations, and electrical safety requirements.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical diploma, associate degree in Electrical Technology, or completion of an approved apprenticeship program preferred.
- 3 years of industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or maintenance electrical experience preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical control systems, motors, PLCs, and industrial equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory and industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and blueprints.
- Knowledge of conduit installation, wire sizing, splicing, and electrical code requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and electronic control systems.
- Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work at heights and around energized equipment while following established safety procedures.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and off‑shifts as required.
