Job DescriptionPrimary Focus:
The Assistant District Communications Coordinator supports Liberal USD
480 internal and external messaging by managing social media, drafting content (newsletters, press releases), maintaining websites, and handling administrative tasks. This is an entry/mid-level role that requires strong writing, organizational skills, and proficiency in digital tools such as Canva or content management systems. The position has a dual‑reporting structure and reports directly to the District Communications Coordinator with dotted line reporting to the District Superintendent.
It is an in‑person role located at the Liberal USD
480 District Office with occasional evening or weekend hours to support events.
- Content Creation:
Drafting, editing, and distributing materials such as newsletters, blogs, and social media posts. - Digital Management:
Updating website content, managing social media channels, and maintaining digital archives. - Administrative Support:
Coordinating communication timelines, scheduling meetings, managing media lists, and providing general clerical support. - Public Relations:
Assisting with press releases, coordinating media inquiries, and monitoring media coverage. - Internal Communication:
Facilitating staff communication through emails, intranets, or community platforms. - Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- One year of experience in internal or organizational communications.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, employee‑friendly language.
- Experience managing web or intranet content.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Previous experience managing multiple priorities, remaining flexible, and working effectively under deadlines.
Requirements may include prolonged sitting or standing, physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, and reaching.
