Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.

Position will provide supplemental instruction in the areas of math, technology, science, and language arts. Position will also work with other SSS staff in the design and implementation of specialized workshops in various areas applicable to student success. A development of relationships with teaching staff, especially core subjects is vital for the success of the students in the TRiO Student Success Services Program.

• Tutors students in various subjects supplemental and individualized instruction.
• Maintains diagnostic and developmental files on participants needing instruction. Follow-up with students is vital.
• Works with core subject faculty to understand their teaching styles, requirements and expectations.
• Works with SSS staff to develop and implement workshops in areas applicable to student success.
• Provide ESL instruction for limited English speaking students.
• Help coordinate job shadow experiences for SSS students.

A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field is preferred. An associates degree in similar area will be considered. Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
