Certified Athletic Trainer and CTE Instructor - LHS
Liberal High School and USD 480 are seeking a full‑time Certified Athletic Trainer and CTE Instructor to serve interscholastic sports and provide limited Health Science instruction during the school day. The role supports approximately 400 student athletes in 15 sports in a Kansas Class 6A/5A setting and emphasizes health and well‑being. Immediate start is available.
Salary: $71,619 - $102,093 per year with a master’s degree, based on experience, plus potential stipend.
Responsibilities ATHLETIC TRAINER- Prevent athletic injuries through training programs and preventative medicine.
- Recognize, evaluate, and provide immediate care for athletic injuries.
- Rehabilitate and recondition injured athletes.
- Attend after‑school sporting events and practices as assigned.
- Maintain accurate injury, treatment, and referral records.
- Educate athletes on injury prevention, nutrition, exercise, healthy lifestyles, and exercise regimens.
- Develop an emergency action plan and a comprehensive athletic health‑care system.
- Maintain an orderly training room and communicate with athletes and parents.
- Keep student physicals and releases authentic and complete documentation in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Order medical supplies and maintain electronic inventory.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Teach assigned health science subjects using board‑approved curriculum and state‑law required materials.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and adapt them for individual and small‑group learning.
- Translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences.
- Establish and maintain student behavior standards for a functional learning environment.
- Measure and evaluate academic and social growth, keep records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents, counselors, and staff about student progress.
- Identify student needs and collaborate with professional staff to resolve learning, health, and attitude issues.
- Create an effective learning environment with displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education and self‑selected professional growth activities.
- Select and requisition instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities and participate in curriculum‑development programs.
- Participate in district and site‑based committees and sponsor student activities.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- U.S. citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
