USD 480 is now accepting applications for a Library Media Specialist for the school year at Meadowlark Elementary and Prairie View Elementary.
The Library Media Specialist provides all students and staff with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety and range of resources that will invite intellectual growth. The media specialist aids students and staff in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of the library media center resources.
Reports To: Curriculum Director and Building Principals

- Master's Degree from an accredited college/university.
- Current Kansas State Teaching Certificate with Library Media endorsement.
- Two years of teaching experience preferred.
- ESOL endorsement preferred ($500.00 stipend paid in full with November paycheck to all certified staff with an ESL endorsement on their Kansas license).
- Demonstrates knowledge of literature and current trends in library media practice.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the state standards, the school's program, the school improvement plan, and student information needs within that program.
- Establishes goals for the library media program appropriate to the setting and the students served.
- Plans the library media program integrated with the overall school program.
- Demonstrates the use of information literacy and educational technology.
- Creates an environment of respect and rapport with students and school staff.
- Establishes a culture for investigation and love of literature.

- Organizes available physical space to enable efficient use within existing constraints.
