Job Summary: We are seeking a Treasurer Tag/Tax Clerk to join our team. The Treasurer Tag/Tax Clerk will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records of tax payments, and assisting with tagging and titling vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a background in financial management.
Responsibilities- Answers phone calls and assists the public with motor vehicle services, including vehicle tag renewals, title transfers and modifications, commercial vehicle tag renewals, providing information, researching inquiries, and processing related documentation.
- Collects and processes tax payments, verifies delinquencies, sends tax statements, coordinates bulk electronic payments from mortgage companies and tax services, and handles special payment processing, refunds, and returned payments.
- Performs accounting duties, including processing receipts, tax payments, daily deposits and balances, and collecting, counting, disbursing, and reconciling funds at the end of each business day.
- Processes abatements, warrants, and redemptions; pulls warrants once paid.
- Sets up escrow payments.
- Receives mail and processes accordingly.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and organizational policies and procedures.
- High school diploma - Associate's degree preferred.
- 3 years of general office experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in financial software and MS Office suite.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
