Reserve Firefighter

We are seeking dedicated reserve firefighters to join our team. In this role, you will respond to various emergency situations, including wildfires, accidents, and medical emergencies in rural areas.

This position is on an on call basis based on county needs not a regular or full time work. Qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Must reside in Seward County, KS
• Physical fitness and agility to perform duties in various terrains and conditions
• Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions

Responsibilities include:

• Responding to emergency calls and providing assistance as needed
• Operating firefighting equipment and vehicles
• Conducting fire prevention activities and educating the public on fire safety
• Maintaining equipment and ensuring readiness for emergency situations
• Participating in training exercises and drills to enhance skills and preparedness

Additional requirements include:

• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
• Must complete Firefighting Training 1 within 1 year of hire
• Complete IS100, IS700 and IS800 within 1 year of hire
