Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director serves as the organization’s principal revenue cycle subject‑matter expert and provides leadership across the revenue cycle, from patient access and charge generation through billing, reimbursement, payment, follow‑up, and final account resolution.

This is an important leadership opportunity for a seasoned healthcare revenue cycle professional who combines strategic thinking with hands‑on operational expertise. The Director will work closely with the CFO, organizational leadership, employees, clinical departments, and external business partners to strengthen revenue cycle performance, accountability, and long‑term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary revenue cycle advisor and subject‑matter resource to the CFO.
  • Maintain oversight of hospital and clinic revenue cycle activities.
  • Monitor accounts receivable, cash collections, claim submission, insurance follow‑up, denials, reimbursement, self-pay activity, and account resolution.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies, reimbursement issues, revenue leakage, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, reimbursement, and accountability.
  • Strengthen revenue integrity and charge capture in collaboration with clinical and operational departments.
  • Monitor denial trends, payer underpayments, reimbursement discrepancies, and other factors affecting financial performance.
  • Provide operational oversight of external revenue cycle vendors and business partners and establish clear expectations for performance and accountability.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Patient Access, Revenue Integrity, HIM, Coding, Compliance, Information Technology, clinical departments, and organizational leadership.
  • Support compliance with applicable Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, HIPAA, federal, state, and organizational requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop assigned revenue cycle employees.
  • Support process improvement, technology implementation, vendor transitions, and other organizational revenue cycle initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor meaningful revenue cycle key performance indicators.
  • Provide the CFO with regular analysis of performance trends, financial opportunities, material risks, root causes, and recommended corrective actions.
Minimum Qualifications Experience (Required)
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising revenue cycle employees and operations.
  • Experience with hospital billing, accounts receivable, collections, denials, reimbursement, and revenue cycle performance management.
