Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign‑born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.
Role:The Foundation Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities of the foundation. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and transparency in financial operations while supporting the foundation’s mission. The Foundation Accounting Manager will focus significantly on managing and administering the operations of the Foundation. The Foundation Accounting Manager works closely with leadership, program staff, auditors, and external partners to manage budgets, investments, and regulatory reporting.
EssentialFunctions & Responsibilities:
- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and month‑end close. Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain fund accounting in accordance with nonprofit and foundation accounting standards, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). Monitor and reconcile investment accounts. Lead the annual budgeting process.
- Manage all Foundation finances to ensure the successful implementation of strategic plans and routine operations. Ensure financial reports are provided to the Board of Directors. Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and donor gift restrictions.
- Maintain and optimize accounting systems and reporting tools. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls. Support implementation of new systems or upgrades as needed.
- Assists Development Officer with all Foundation events. Attend board meetings and records minutes.
Skills:
Experience At least five years of experience working in a capacity where cultivation and raising resources is a focus. This must include fundraising and capital campaign oversight and proven success. Experience in a higher education setting, particularly a community college, is preferred.
Education:Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of responsible experience in accounting, fundraising, and capital campaign oversight.
