Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include assisting the Director of Residence Life & Safety in the day-to-day management of Residence Life and Safety. The hours will consist mainly of weekends, evenings, and holidays. This position is for the academic year and candidates will be required to reapply for continued employment.

Essential Functions
  • Occupy designated living quarters throughout employment. Creates a residential community that enhances the students’ academic, developmental, and personal lives. Encourages student participation in residence halls and college-sponsored events, clubs, and organizations.
  • Monitor and be a presence in campus buildings and grounds for unlawful or inappropriate activity. Enforce policies and rules of the residence halls and student code of conduct. Ensures the safety of students by conducting building evacuations and providing instruction. Unlock and secure appropriate buildings and rooms. Inspect buildings for illegal entry or criminal damage.
  • Assist with move in and move outs of all units. Understand and resolve minor building issues, security alarm. Conducts room inspections, corrective follow-ups and assessing of damage to college property.
  • Annually review and provide feedback for Residence Life policies, rules and regulations and housing contracts. Assist in supervising, training, and evaluating all housing resident assistants.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life & Safety.
Qualifications

Associate’s degree preferred. Up to six months of similar or related experience preferred.

Room and Board in lieu of payment
