Seward County Community College is a two-year institution offering 45 programs of study, including Adult Basic Education, certificate programs and Associate of Arts, Science, General Studies and Applied Sciences degrees. Ranked in the top 5% of more than 1,100 accredited community colleges in the U.S. by the Aspen Institute, SCCC serves a student body of 2,500+ students ranging in age from 15 to 85, in a county with the highest foreign-born percentage population in the U.S., and a rural service area of about 50,997 in seven Southwest Kansas counties as well as neighboring counties in southeastern Colorado, the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles.
RoleExecutive Director of Marketing and Public Relations is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s strategic marketing, communications, branding, and public relations initiatives. This executive leadership position directs all internal and external communications while enhancing the organization’s visibility, reputation, and community engagement. The position also manages the organization’s website, including web design, content strategy, user experience, search engine optimization (SEO), and webmaster functions to ensure a dynamic and effective digital presence.
ExperienceSix months to two years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or digital media, managing websites, web design, and content management systems. Experience with media relations and strategic communications.
EducationA Bachelor’s degree (minimum) with at least three years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations and marketing.
Interpersonal SkillsCourtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
KnowledgeKnowledge of management principles involved in marketing and publics relations, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of target marketing in the community. Proficiency with website design principles and content management systems. Knowledge of digital marketing, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
SkillsProficient use of graphic design software, desktop layout , social media software, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Proficient in photography, planning for photographic and video production, and use of photographs and video publication in social media and internet sites. Strong writing skills. Strong organizational, multitasking, and analytical skills
