Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide individualized nursing care to residents.

• Collaborates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
• Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise using appropriate age- and population-specific standards.
• Cares for residents in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Co-ordinates care, conducts resident assessments, provides education, and performs various nursing interventions.
• May serve as charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring tasks match job descriptions, skill levels, and resident care needs.
• Provides assistance and support to delegators to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns.
• Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice outlined by the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.

• Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program (preferred), such as CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where nursing is practiced, or possesses multistate licensure under a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.
