in Liberal, KS is currently accepting applications for the position of Eisenhower Middle School Volleyball Coach

Preference will be given to those candidates who have or are eligible for a current Kansas teaching license (teaching assignment to be determined).

Professionalism
  • Communicate in a way that follows the chain of command (Policy KN):
    • Students and parents communicate to coaches.
    • Assistant coaches speak to head coaches in their sport.
    • Head coaches take concerns to the Activities Director.
    • Activities Director communicates with the Principal.
    • Principal informs the Superintendent.
    • Superintendent shares information with the School Board.
    • Support other activities.
  • Allow all students to participate.
  • Follow KSHSAA guidelines and event rules.
  • Be a well-behaved visiting group.
  • Exhibit positive treatment of ALL officials and workers.
  • Head coaches are responsible for their assistant coaches.
  • Remember - you are a teacher first, coach second.
Administrative Duties
  • Ensure students have physicals and concussion forms turned in before participation.
  • Share any guidelines, contracts, parent meeting agendas, calendars, etc. with the AD.
  • Provide updated rosters to the AD as necessary.
  • Conduct a parent meeting prior to the first competition.
  • Complete the pre-season safety, rules meetings, and exam requirements on time.
  • Keep inventory updated at the beginning and end of season.
  • Complete the uniform/equipment electronic check‑in/check‑out.
  • Follow all apparel ordering procedures.
  • Must have all money before ordering.
  • Complete accident reports immediately; let AD know and give to the nurse.
  • KSHSAA Concussion Reporting – let AD know.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with athlete eligibility – (2 or more F’s OR less than 2.0 GPA).
  • We will support higher expectations; make sure they’re communicated to parents.
  • Eligibility reports are run weekly; if students are marked ineligible, they cannot participate for a week, even if they get the grade up within that time frame.
  • Send number counts to the bookkeeper for food 2 days in advance – bring back receipts.
  • Email the office staff the dismissal list and time the day before or morning of.
  • Make sure you have communicated with the office if you need coverage for your class.
  • Don’t leave students unattended after practice or events.
  • Supervise locker rooms before and after practices and games.
  • Report final scores to the AD.
Practices and Coaching Performance
  • All practices are to be supervised by coaches at all times.
  • Return all equipment neatly after practices and games.
  • Make sure athletic storage is locked and locations are secured.
  • No students allowed in the athletic storage.
  • No practices on Sunday will be permitted unless cleared through the AD.
  • Practices must conclude by 5:45 p.m. on Wednesdays.
  • Please notify the AD prior to cancelling a previously scheduled practice or adding a practice.
  • Don’t prop doors; we want to ensure student and adult safety at all times.
  • Coaches should abide by the USD 480 key card policy.
Other Duties
  • Buses – Coaches supervise and assist. Keep the bus clean. Follow bus rules.
  • Fundraising and requisition procedures are approved by the AD.
  • Attend coaches meetings. If unable, set up an individual meeting time.
  • Evaluations are done within the time frame given.
  • Travel – Boys and girls separated; spread out as coaches/sponsors.
  • End of season team banquet/awards – scheduled with AD.
  • If a student quits or is dismissed from the team, please notify the AD and Parent Coordinator and update roster.
Expectations of a Student‑Athlete
  • Student 1st – Athlete 2nd.
  • Students who are ineligible are not allowed to travel.
  • Students must be at school in order to practice or compete (unless the absence was excused).
  • Maintain good sportsmanship on and off the field.
  • Student managers are held to the same standard as student athletes.
