POSITION SUMMARY
Applications Engineer III position is for people that have a passion for supporting customers and a broad technical background. A background in telecommunications, data centers, networking, DC power and how the physical layer supports these businesses is a must. This position will have broad authority to support customers on post-sales support and mentor junior staff in the application engineering department.
Responsibilities- Develop solutions to problems with limited information from customers and present those solutions.
- Subject matter expert for physical layer infrastructure and how ANS provides solutions.
- Train and expand the knowledge base within the department and the company, and mentor other engineers on difficult customer problems.
- Interface with customers when difficulties on installation or operation of an ANS product are found and ensure all interactions conclude in resolution.
- Collaborate with quality, planning and internal customers to ensure external customer satisfaction.
- Assist in evaluating functional characteristics of new and existing products and in evaluating technical documentation for new products.
- Provide input to product management on requested features or potential opportunities for development of new products.
- Work with customers to provide custom layout drawings and BOMs for configured ANS products; develop training programs for internal and external customers.
- Develop Visio models from existing ANS products and provide on-site support for troubleshooting or installation as needed.
- Maintain a passion for learning and increasing value each year; develop solutions to problems of moderate to advanced complexity.
- Follow up with customers to ensure problems are resolved and contribute to setting and achieving goals.
- Own and lead projects to technical completion; participate in team projects and may lead technical and organizational processes, practices, and methods.
- Bachelor s degree in engineering or related technical field, or the equivalent of 8 years plus directly related work experience. Ability to understand advanced engineering concepts specific to ANS applications.
- Visio experience is required to create configured drawings. Solid Works experience is a plus.
- Ability to understand and apply engineering concepts, communicate effectively, and problem-solve with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Windows-based environment; proficient in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail).
- Physical ability to move 25 pounds and sit/typing for extended periods; travel up to 25% may be required.
This position requires travel within Amphenol locations, customers, and potentially suppliers outside of the company.
Pay Range: $85,000-$100,000
