To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility and duty satisfactorily.
SUMMARY: The Heat Treat & Tooling Technician is responsible for supporting production through the safe operation of the hydrogen atmosphere heat treat department and the daily management of the machine shop tool room. This position supports production by ensuring parts are heat treated to specification while maintaining tooling readiness for CNC machining operations. Working closely with the Hydrogen Heat Treat Lead, machinists, programmers, setup technicians, engineering, and production leadership, the Heat Treat & Tooling Technician balances furnace operation with tooling preparation, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives, promoting teamwork through their behavior, acting in accordance with Altek's Policies and adhering to the goals and expectations as defined by management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows the procedures established in the work instructions or by the Assistant Manager(s) and/or Lead(s)
- Pays strong attention to detail and exhibits critical thinking skills
- Takes an active role in organizing and improving current processes, when necessary, through SWI change suggestions
- Is proactive in maintaining established company policies and manufacturing strategies
- Inspects product according to Altek’s Quality Policies and Procedures
- Builds and maintains positive rapport, communication and behavior with other Altek employees, customers and/or suppliers
- Adapts and modifies as circumstances warrant
- Demonstrates safe work habits
- Embraces Altek's Quality Policy to ensure quality to internal and external customers

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Completes end-of-shift tie-in log and accurately enters part and scrap counts into Paperless
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to accurately read blueprints, preferred
- Skilled with portable measuring devices used in the production processes at Altek
- Must be able to read and comply with work instructions, quality documents, and other pertinent written material
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Quality-conscious attitude and pride of ownership in designated responsibilities
