Job DescriptionTitle: System Security Engineer
Reports to: Director of Technology
Work Schedule: 260-Day (Full-Time)
Primary Job Function:
The Delaware Area Career Center System Security Engineer provides technical expertise in installing, servicing, and repairing the district’s technology equipment and infrastructure, ensuring up‑to‑date cybersecurity measures, and supporting staff and students.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Three years of relevant experience preferred
- Current certifications in Windows Azure, Windows Server, Cisco, Fortinet, VMWare, Google Workspace, Security+, CISSP, or Ethical Hacking Certificate preferred
- Oversee preservation and upgrade of DACC technology infrastructure
- Provide tier‑two technical support to students, staff, and families
- Use and maintain a ticketing system for incident logging and service requests
- Develop and enforce rules, policies, and procedures for IT equipment use
- Maintain and administer Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, M365, SharePoint, Active Directory, Intune, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
- Configure and manage Microsoft Exchange, virtualized platforms, enterprise storage (SAN), and patch management systems
- Leverage scripting to streamline operations and perform data account administration
- Prepare competitive bid specifications and participate in staff meetings and professional development activities
- Provide technical training to DACC staff and support teachers with innovative technologies
- Ensure IT services are available and perform preventative maintenance, patching, and repairs
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and data removal as needed
- Maintain documentation of installations, upgrades, vendor contacts, and support procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA, IDEA, HIPAA, and other regulations
- Field irregular hours and non‑traditional schedules as required
- Proficiency with Windows and Linux servers, network infrastructure, LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi
- Knowledge of SAN, database management, and scripting languages
- Strong verbal and written communication, conflict resolution, and collaboration skills
- Ability to analyze problems, make decisions, and maintain accurate records
- Understanding of FERPA, IDEA, HIPAA, and educational technology
- Capacity to handle emergency situations and maintain a safe environment
- Standard full‑time schedule with occasional irregular hours
- Physical requirements include sitting or standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds
- Exposure to environmental hazards per district policy; drug‑free workplace
- Remote work may be available when appropriate
