Position: Tech III-Facilities (HVAC)
Overview

Tech III-Facilities (HVAC) role at Cincinnati Children's. This position works in partnership with Leadership on Environment of Care initiatives and strategic plans within CCHMC Facilities. The role requires in-depth industrial knowledge across engineering disciplines and strong project management capabilities to scope, analyze, and implement cross-functional solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Drives Results - Works in partnership with Leadership on Environment of Care initiatives and strategic plans and projects within CCHMC Facilities. Manages ambiguity and provides clarity in highly complex projects with demonstrated ability to scope and analyze cross-functional problems to implement solutions. Requires in-depth industrial knowledge with various branches of the engineering profession, for example electrical, plumbing, mechanical, maintenance or plant engineering.

    Project Management expertise with high project scope and value-add initiatives.
  • Prioritization - Utilize knowledge of facilities best practices with attention to detail to maximize efficiency, maintain safety standards, and improve project planning. Ability to prioritize projects and identify areas for improvement. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Communication (Internal & External) - Highly experienced written and verbal communicator. Able to work in a matrixed organization, receive and provide direction across disciplines, fields of responsibility, and organizational levels. Maintains composure in stressful environments while fostering trust and innovation.
  • Analysis and Implementation - Knowledge of financial/managerial accounting and activity-based costing. Experience in preparing and presenting leadership-ready comprehensive documents.
  • Mentoring - Mentors Facilities Engineer I and II; ensures standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance within scope of work. Collaborates with Leadership to upskill team members and promote cross-training.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years of work experience in a related job discipline
  • Preferred: 5+ years in commercial HVAC experience, with willingness to continue education in the HVAC field
  • EPA 608 certification
  • Standard practices of the HVAC and refrigeration trade
  • Good problem-solving skills and critical thinking
  • Physically capable of standing for long periods
  • Ability to analyze data from routine maintenance and identify potential malfunctions
  • Excellent communication skills
