Record and reconcile approved change orders against the GMP; flag scope or cost changes that affect the guaranteed price. - Owner billing:
Prepare and submit monthly pay applications (AIA-style) per GMP contract terms; reconcile owner payments to billed amounts. - Contingency & shared savings:
Calculate and reconcile contingency and shared-savings provisions at project closeout per contract terms. - Subcontractor cost tracking:
Track subcontractor buyout, commitments, and cost-to-complete against budget. - Reporting:
Prepare project cost reports and variance analysis for Project Managers, Estimating, and leadership. - Compliance:
Ensure GMP accounting practices align with contract terms, GAAP, and company policy. - Collaboration:
Work closely with Project Managers, Estimating, and Accounting/Finance to keep budgets, forecasts, and billing aligned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of construction accounting experience; GMP or cost-plus contract experience strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
- Proficiency with accounting/ERP software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Procore) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile complex project financials.
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable working cross-functionally with Project Managers and Estimating.
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA.
- Experience with commercial electrical or specialty subcontractor accounting.
- Primarily office-based in Liberty, MO.
- Standard office hours, with occasional deadline-driven crunch at month-end and project closeout.
Competitive pay (DOE) and a generous benefits package - Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, six paid holidays, and a 401(k) with generous match - plus performance-based bonuses and real room to grow in a merit shop that promotes on contribution, not tenure.
