Assist the Head Coach with the design and implementation of the cross‑country program for 8th grade and above. Provide supervision of student athletes, use sound instructional techniques, serve as a positive role model, and act as a liaison between the school, other schools, and the community.
Essential Functions- Analyze and assess opposition strategies and strengths/weaknesses for events.
- Provide feedback to student athletes on individual performance and aid in team placement.
- Assist in developing off‑season programs and opportunities for student athletes.
- Attend meetings, workshops, conferences, and supporting activities to receive and convey information.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to develop the program at all levels.
- Communicate program needs and recommend expenditures to the Head Coach.
- Develop game strategies, practice regimes, and plan for injury prevention.
- Evaluate facilities for hazards and make safety recommendations.
- Instruct student athletes and maintain required records (statistics, insurance, permission forms, schedules, inventories).
- Oversee student managers and volunteers.
- Promote the athletic program through clinics and community outreach.
- Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and staff.
- Supervise student athletes during all participation activities to ensure safety.
- Monitor academic eligibility and provide intervention for students needing assistance.
- Help develop fundraising and budgeting plans.
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the unit.
Job RequirementsExperience: Job‑related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent;
Associate’s Degree preferred.
Certificates and Licenses: Missouri State Teaching Certificate or completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course; 60 college credit hours minimum;
Sports First Aid Training; CPR/AED Training;
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
