STS Technical Services is hiring Painters in Liberty, Missouri
. This is a regular full-time, non-exempt role supporting paint operations in a manufacturing and production environment.
The Painter is responsible for applying primer, paint, touch-up coatings and other finishes to JLG products using electrostatic, air-assist and automotive-style paint equipment. This role supports high-quality production finishes through proper surface preparation, paint mixing, masking, equipment maintenance and quality inspection.

The Painter applies paint and coatings to JLG products while following paint specifications, safety procedures and production requirements. This position requires hands-on painting experience, strong attention to detail, basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in automotive, industrial, heavy equipment, manufacturing or body shop painting and be comfortable using spray equipment, preparing surfaces, mixing paint, performing touch-ups and inspecting finished work.
Key ResponsibilitiesThese duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.
- Apply primer, paint and touch-up coatings using spray equipment and brushes
- Mask and unmask parts to meet specifications
- Prepare surfaces by sanding, washing and conditioning
- Perform light bodywork as needed
- Disassemble, clean and maintain painting equipment, including pumps, heaters, tanks and guns
- Flush tanks and lines during color changes
- Mix paints for color accuracy, viscosity and consistency
- Perform titrations and adjust chemicals as needed for paint and related processes
- Apply decals, stencils and rust-proofing as required
- Inspect work before, during and after painting to ensure quality standards are met
- Perform mil and gloss checks as required
- Transport parts and materials using tuggers, forklifts, overhead cranes or manual carts
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks as required
- 6 or more months of painting experience in an automotive, industrial or heavy equipment setting
- Strong math skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Ability to pass a Pulmonary Function Test
- Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet business and production demands
- Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance in person and on site
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- 1 or more years of painting experience in a manufacturing or body shop environment
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to troubleshoot minor issues
- Work is performed in a manufacturing or production environment
- May involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery and temperature fluctuations
- May require standing for extended periods
- May require repetitive motions, bending, kneeling, climbing and use of tools and equipment
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to push and pull up to 50 pounds and up to 30 pounds sustained
- Proper personal protective equipment must be worn when required
- Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace
