The Quality Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards and customer specifications. This role supports production by identifying defects, documenting findings, and collaborating with operators, engineers, and supervisors to drive continuous improvement and maintain product integrity.
Key Responsibilities Inspection & Testing- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, E-drawings and welding procedures to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional tests on products and components.
- Verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Complete first article inspections (FAI) and assist with PPAP submissions as required.
- Record inspection findings in quality logs, databases, or ERP/QMS systems.
- Prepare nonconformance reports (NCRs) and assist in documenting deviations or product concerns.
- Maintain accurate records for audits, certifications, and customer documentation.
- Support creation or revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Participate in problem‑solving activities such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and other RCA methods.
- Assist with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure quality‑related improvements are implemented.
- Monitor production processes for consistency, capability, and compliance.
- Verify proper use and calibration of measurement tools and testing equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, 5S, and quality system upgrades.
- Communicate quality concerns promptly to supervisors and engineering teams.
- Proficient with measurement tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles, tolerances, and inspection methods.
- Ability to use quality systems, ERP software, or digital inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certificate preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing or quality control (or equivalent training).
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints/technical drawings required.
Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs. as needed.
- Work performed in a manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.
- Use of appropriate PPE required.
- Quality Focus – Ensures adherence to standards and processes.
- Technical Expertise – Demonstrates strong knowledge of inspection methods and equipment.
- Accountability – Owns tasks and follows through on quality concerns.
- Communication – Reports issues clearly and collaborates effectively.
- Continuous Improvement – Seeks opportunities to reduce waste and improve processes.
