Grimco – a 150‑year‑old signage distributor with $1.5 billion in revenue – is looking for a sales professional to own and grow our Kansas City territory. The role will focus on selling mission‑critical products such as traffic signs, reflective sheeting, and aluminum substrates to a customer base with significant upside potential.
Job DescriptionThis flexible position starts with a strong inside sales presence before transitioning to outside territory management. The candidate will build customer relationships from our Liberty location and develop outside sales skills.
Inside Sales & Customer Development- Handle customer inquiries and proactively reach out to existing accounts (≈30 inbound and 30 outbound calls per day)
- Provide consultative sales support, matching customer requirements with technical product specifications
- Enter orders and track customer information in company systems (Order Power, CRM, Reporting Services)
- Build product expertise across Grimco’s signage portfolio through hands‑on customer interactions
- Transition into field‑based selling as confidence and territory knowledge grow
- Conduct face‑to‑face customer visits and prospect for new business throughout the Kansas City metro area
- Perform on‑site needs assessments, product demonstrations, and sales presentations
- Use personal vehicle to travel to customer locations (mileage reimbursement provided; valid driver’s license and current vehicle registration required)
- Travel includes local KC area visits and regional overnight travel to markets including Wichita, Iowa, Idaho, and Nebraska (estimated 15‑30 % of time once transitioned to outside sales)
- Achieve weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for volume, margin, and gross profit
- Own the complete sales process from prospecting through close and account development
- Collaborate with branch team members to share strategies, market insights, and best practices
- 0‑3 years of sales or customer service experience – restaurant/hospitality background valued for customer service skills and grit
- Motivated self‑starter comfortable learning outside sales and a hybrid role
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to quickly build rapport with customers and suppliers
- Demonstrated grit and persistence – comfortable working hard to achieve goals
- Ability to take direction and make independent decisions in a fast‑paced environment
- Willingness and ability to travel overnight to regional territories as needed
